Maaskant Shipyards’ activities started with the maintenance of winches and now it manufactures its own range of winches. Thanks to creativity and inventiveness, Maaskant is at the forefront of this technology and it also produces, repairs and maintains custom-made winches according to the specifications of customers. The yard is a trendsetter in its field. Maaskant makes use of its own well-equipped engineering works to provide the optimum 24-hour service. The yard operates three dry docks with a lifting capacity of up to 3,500 tonnes. A broad range of vessels, from small yachts up to large fishing vessels, hopper dredgers and vessels from the Ministry of Transport, can be maintained and repaired.
Started as a mussel and shrimp fleet
In 1948 Piet Maaskant and his two sons established their repair company for the town's mussel and shrimp fleet. The yard grew to become a multidisciplinary, internationally oriented shipyard, specialised in the building and repair of a wide range of ships for a variety of purposes and fishing methods. In the past half century, the shipyard has delivered several types of vessels. In 1984 Maaskant Shipyards joined the Damen Shipyards Group.
