In 1974 Damen delivered two Damen Stan Tugs 1 to their first Libyan customer, Azzawiya Oil Refining Company Inc. (ARC). After the start of the new free Libya, Damen was awarded with the contract to deliver two Damen Stan Tugs 1606. The 'Azzawiya 4' and 'Azzawiya 6', each having a bollard pull of 15.7 ton and total power of 1.216 bhp will operate at Azzawiya port and oil refinery to handle oil tankers in the Azzawiya oil field.
