Maasmond Maritime Networking Day 2012

25 Jun 2012

On Monday, June 18, the three masted schooner ‘Eendracht’ (built by Damen in 1989) and its crew provided the perfect accommodation and atmosphere for the Maasmond Maritime Networking Day 2012. The guests, all with an interest in the Dutch Maritime Cluster, were invited by organizer Mr Piet Sinke, the founder-editor of the Daily Collection of Maritime Press Clippings.

  • While sailing from Hotel New York (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) to Hoek van Holland, out to sea and back, a number of vessels approached the Eendracht one after another to give a demonstration. Amongst this fleet were several Damen tugs, such as KOTUG’s SD Rebel (an ASD Tug 2810) and the SMIT Cheetah (an ASD Tug 3213).

Others who were instrumental in the success of the networking trip were the captains and crews of the KNRM (whose lifeguards gave a demonstration together with a rescue helicopter), a pilot vessel, a boatmen’s tender, Fairplay Towage, AeroLin Photo and the Port of Rotterdam, to name but a few.

  • The sail training vessel Eendracht is run on a charter base by Stichting het Zeilend Zeeschip (the Sailing Seaship Foundation) and used as a sail training vessel for young people, introducing them to the sea, to sailing and to each other.
