The story started in 2004 when it became evident more engineering capacity was needed within the Group. In line with this, Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding took the decision to set up a new engineering company in Galati, Romania, named MARINE ENGINEERING Galati, which is better known as MEGA.
Employing more than 100 people, nowadays, MEGA is a modern engineering company specialised in shipbuilding, mainly providing detailed engineering packages for hulls, piping and outfitting.
MEGA’s success is down to its dynamic team, whereby we have a very good mixture of experienced and young engineers.

Who we are
How we work
We make use of specialised 3D software systems such as NUPAS/ CADMATIC, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Autonesting, Shell Plates and, for some projects, AVEVA Marine (TRIBON).
Business Intelligence
The Business Intelligence project started at MEGA in November 2012, with a workshop coordinated by Professor Henk Akkermans from Tilburg University and Laura van den Eshof, Head of BI department from Damen Shipyards Gorinchem.
