Innovation is the key to success.

Damen Innovation

The research and development (R&D) teams at Damen are continuously improving our vessels. Making them more effective in their operations, more cost-efficient and more environmentally friendly. But we also invest a great deal in the development of brand new products. We see innovation as the key to success. Our innovative projects have given us the edge we need and a leading position in the maritime world.

At Damen we have our own Research and Development teams that are dedicated to innovative projects. That’s why we’re able to offer our customers the best products. We not only create new designs, we also keep improving our existing products and parts by listening closely to our customers and by taking current technological trends into account. The thorough testing period our vessels and parts undergo results in an extensive knowledge base.

Innovation through cooperation

To be at the top, you need to innovate. And to develop and implement the best innovations you need to work together. Sharing knowledge is one of the most important conditions to stimulate the development of the best possible products. This is why Damen works nationally and internationally with customers such as the US Coastguard, independent research organisations including Technical University Delft, TNO and MARIN, suppliers and classification societies.

Projects

As said, Damen thinks innovation is the key to success and to stay at the top. We are proactive in developing sustainable and cost-effective vessels and services. Our Research & Development department is looking into sustainable solutions, both in terms of manufacturing processes and in terms of product improvements. The impact of various hull forms on resistance, reducing hull resistance using air lubrication and examining alternative fuels such as LNG, are typical examples. We have many innovative current projects and hereby we share a few examples.
