Crane installation for ASD 2811
Damen Services Central America recently carried out the installation of a crane on board the VB Cormoran, an ASD 2811 tug operated by Boluda.
Boluda required a new crane for this vessel as it is useful for their operations when they need to load items on board. Previously, they had to use another vessel with a crane or an external crane, which caused additional costs.
For this project, Boluda entrusted Damen Services with the entire scope of work relating to the crane installation. This included supplying the crane itself, along with associated components such as pipes, valves and fittings, and installing the complete hydraulic system.
The assembly was carried out on deck with careful attention paid to ensuring that the system was fully operational and free from issues. By managing both the supply and installation, Damen Services was able to offer Boluda a turnkey solution, removing the need to coordinate multiple suppliers or manage integration challenges.
This approach enabled the project to be delivered in line with the client’s operational requirements, providing a dependable, fully functional system with minimal hassle. With the AK 16HE3 crane from HS Marine, the VB Cormoran can now operate independently of external crane availability.
