Summer Camp 2025

This summer, we were once again privileged to host our annual Summer Camp. After last year’s edition in Romania, this year’s Summer Camp took place in the Netherlands. It attracted  the largest group to date, consisting of 38 teenagers that travelled from Ukraine, Romania, and Poland. Some of them were reunited once again, while others met for the first time, setting the stage for a week filled with new friendships and memories. The theme for this year was “The World of Fishing & Aquaculture,” hosted together with our colleagues at Damen Maaskant.

The camp officially kicked off on Monday, June 30th, with a warm welcome and an introduction to the week’s programme and group project. From that moment on, the teenagers were immersed in a well-balanced mix of educational sessions and fun, recreational activities. Blessed with beautiful, sunny weather, the atmosphere was energetic and joyful throughout the week. The group explored the Dutch coastline, enjoyed moments of free time, and took part in outdoor team-building activities, which sparked plenty of laughter and connection. In between these adventures, the participants also dedicated time to their group project: creatively designing sustainable solutions for the future of fishing and aquaculture.

One of the highlights of the week was the visit to Yerseke, Zeeland’s renowned oyster village. There, the teenagers experienced the traditions and innovations of the local seafood industry firsthand, taking a boat tour, collecting oysters themselves, and of course, tasting them afterwards. Finally, the week concluded with a fish and chips dinner at the Damen Maaskant shipyard, set against the backdrop of a glowing sunset. This was a fitting end to a week filled with discovery, collaboration, fun, relaxation, and making new memories.

We extend our sincere thanks to Damen Maaskant and everyone who contributed to making this year’s Summer Camp an unforgettable success!
