Damen Shiprepair Curaçao has completed a comprehensive maintenance and repair programme on Beşiktaş Shipping’s 183-metre oil/chemical tanker MT Antalya in support of the vessel’s class survey.

The project follows a similar programme completed on sister vessel MT Amasya in April 2026. A third tanker, MT Anatolia, is scheduled to arrive at the yard in December 2026, extending the collaboration to three consecutive projects.

Strategic support in the Caribbean

Beşiktaş Shipping is a third-generation shipowning and management company whose roots date back to the 1960s. The company operates a fleet of 40 vessels, comprising oil/chemical tankers, bulk carriers, a container vessel and an ethylene carrier, supported by more than 1,000 employees.

The wider Beşiktaş Group also includes Beşiktaş Shipyard in Yalova and Art Shipyard in Tuzla, Türkiye, giving the organisation extensive ship repair and maintenance capabilities.

With MT Amasya and MT Antalya trading in the Caribbean, Damen Shiprepair Curaçao provided an operationally efficient repair location close to the vessels’ trading area. This helped limit route deviation and supported an efficient return to service following the planned dockings.

Comprehensive maintenance and repair scope

The programme included hull blasting and coating renewal, application of an antifouling coating system, and the inspection and maintenance of propulsion components, including the rudder and propeller.

Additional activities included valve overhauls, pipe renewals and electrical works. Damen’s project team also coordinated and supported original equipment manufacturers attending the vessels to service onboard equipment.

“Beşiktaş Shipping is known for the high standards it applies to fleet care, making the decision to entrust three consecutive projects to our Curaçao team especially meaningful,” said Bülent Şirin, Sales Manager Türkiye at Damen Shiprepair & Conversion.

“Carrying out the work close to the vessels’ trading area helps reduce deviation and downtime. These projects demonstrate how the technical capabilities of our Curaçao team and Damen’s international shiprepair network can support Turkish shipowners wherever their vessels operate.”

Ömer Uzunhasanoğlu, Technical Superintendent of Beşiktaş Shipping said, “For these vessels, Damen Shiprepair Curaçao offered the right combination of strategic location, technical capability and project coordination. Clear communication supported the efficient execution of the first two projects, and we look forward to continuing the collaboration with MT Anatolia in December.”

MT Anatolia’s scheduled arrival in December will provide the next opportunity for Damen Shiprepair Curaçao and Beşiktaş Shipping to build on the successful execution and close coordination established during the first two projects.
