Damen Maritime Festival: 10th edition

We are very pleased to invite you to join us as we celebrate the tenth edition of the Damen Maritime Festival on 1 October.
This milestone event will bring together colleagues from across the Damen Shipyards Group, together with our trusted industry partners, to explore the theme: ‘A decade anchored in trust, building the maritime future together’.

As usual, the event will bring industry stakeholders together for an open and informal exchange of ideas with plenty of opportunities to connect, explore and enjoy. This year, innovation will take centre stage, with a programme highlighting key sector developments such as autonomous sailing and circular shipbuilding.
Keeping with tradition, there will be a number of Damen vessels on display, including a Damen Multi Cat 1908 Electric and the Damen Landing Utility Vessel (LUV) 2208. In line with this year’s focus on innovation, these will include a Fast Interceptor with autonomous capabilities and a workboat constructed from fully recyclable, impact-resistant high-density polyethylene (HDPE 1003S). A number of electric and hybrid Waterbuses 2907, the Damen Patrol Vessel 1304 and vessels from the Damen Heritage Fleet will also be present during the festival for guests to view and go aboard.
Guests will also have the opportunity to join a guided tour of various vessels currently under construction.
New this edition, Innovation Talks on Autonomous Sailing and Circular Shipbuilding, held in two sessions.
Other products will be on view via video or livestream.
We’ll also be showcasing a variety of vessel models. These will include a Combi Freighter (CF) and an ASD Tug 2713 Fuel Flexible (FF), both of which offer a number of propulsion options to help vessel operators lower emissions.
Other models will showcase solutions such as our Damen Air Cavity System (DACS), an innovative air lubrication system that reduces resistance in the water to cut fuel consumption and emissions.
And, of course, there will be plenty of time to relax and enjoy the festival atmosphere. You can test your shipbuilding skills in a LEGO shipbuilding competition, or get a flavour of the aquaculture industry at our mussel tasting experience.

Jeroen de Waal
Head of Business Development at Radio Holland
Jeroen de Waal is a maritime NavCom professional at Radio Holland, with a focus on navigation and communication solutions for the maritime and defence industries. His work covers project sales and technical solutions across areas such as radar, AIS, VHF and GNSS resilience. He is also actively involved in developments around maritime technology, including GNSS jamming and spoofing, autonomous vessels and remote operations.
In this presentation, we discuss the growing impact of GNSS disruptions on maritime safety, with developments in the Strait of Hormuz and Northern Europe, particularly the Baltic Sea, illustrating a broader shift: reliable satellite positioning can no longer be taken for granted.
