Sale of two inland pusher tugs

Damen Trading facilitates sale of two inland pusher tugs for river development in DRC

The worldwide Damen client network, combined with the Ship Brokerage Services provided by Damen Trading, has resulted in the successful sale of two used (non-Damen built) inland vessels of the type ‘tug with push bow’ named Animo and Joset. These two vessels, originally owned by Sleepvaartbedrijf H.M. Cardol of Lisse, the Netherlands were sold to La Société d’Incubation d’Entreprise et Formations S.A.R.L , based in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This acquisition was completed for the "PMEs Mutualisation Rivière" initiative under the World Bank’s COPA/TRANSFORM project in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The goal is to unlock economic potential by revitalizing river traffic on the Inkisi River in Kisantu. This project provides a vital lifeline for the agricultural value chain throughout the Madimba territory in Kongo Central. The PMEs Mutualisation Rivière is supported by ‘I&F entrepreneuriat’, a member of the ‘Deloitte - I&F entrepreneuriat - Kivu Entrepreneur consortium’ and assisted by Flexible Details Lda from Portugal. This group is responsible for implementing the business plan competition for the Congolese government’s TRANSFORM project, funded by the World Bank. Harnessing such a river as a strategic economic and social resource, aligns perfectly with the mission of the Damen Group. We are proud to have played a small role in this important development project. Based on the determination we have observed from the initiative leaders in the DRC, we are confident they will overcome the many challenges ahead and make this river development a success.
