Used workboat sold to Iceland

Bizon hops along Dogger Bank on her way to Iceland

In the Ice Age Era and Post-Glacial area 8,000 up to 55,000 years ago respectively the animals ‘Steppe Bison’ and the ‘European Bison’ lived in Doggerland, an area of what is now the seabed of the North Sea. In the 3rd week of May 2026 the cargo vessel Rimini, with the small work vessel named Bizon in its cargo hold, passed Dogger Bank on her sailing route from Harlingen in the Netherlands to Iceland.

Dogger Bank was once an elevated hill and the final stronghold of Doggerland – the ancient landmass that connected the United Kingdom to mainland Europe.

Only shortly before, on the 15th of May 2026 Damen Trading & Chartering realized a successful sale of this used 14.50 m multipurpose workboat named Bizon from Mariserve B.V. (the Netherlands) to Borgarverk ehf (Iceland).

A good heavy lift transport opportunity put some unexpected pressure on the deal, however we still managed to deliver in time and create a smooth transfer of ownership in Harlingen, the Netherlands.

Built in 1984 at Shipyard Ravestein B.V., the Bizon is equipped with two Schottel Rudder Propellers and two main propulsion engines of 275 kW each, a liftable wheelhouse, a hydraulic deck crane and two push chairs with fendering.

Borgaverk ehf, with its main office based at Borganes on Iceland, especially purchased the Bizon to assist at their work project of the renewal of pipelines, used for the transport of geothermal energy under a bridge over one of Iceland rivers.

We like to thank all parties involved in this successful transaction and wish Borgaverk ehf a prosperous finishing of their work project during this summer season.
