Innovative repair with no gas freeing
Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen (DSV) recently completed a repair involving hot work on board of a non-gas free tanker.
In this case DSV permanently repaired a returning crack in the high sea chest by sealing the area with a cofferdam, supported by a dedicated diving team. Not only was an insert plate installed under Class supervision but also a structural reinforcement to prevent the crack from returning in the future.
Downtime and costs were minimised for our client because no gas freeing was needed to do the repairs.
DSV is well known in the ARA range for its easy access from major shipping lanes and ability to perform complex repairs.
