Search and Rescue vessels for Turkish Coast Guard

Ready to save lives at sea

Damen Shipyards Antalya is building thirteen SAR 1906 vessels for the Turkish Coast Guard (TURCG). The vessels will support search and rescue operations at sea, helping the Turkish Coast Guard to respond quickly and effectively when lives are at risk.

Türkiye for Türkiye

Built in Türkiye for Türkiye, the vessels are being constructed by the highly skilled team at Damen Shipyards Antalya, strengthening local maritime expertise and supporting the region’s shipbuilding industry.

Partnership with TURCG

Their construction continues a longstanding partnership between Damen and the Turkish Coast Guard, building on the successful delivery of previous SAR 1906 vessels that are already serving along Türkiye’s coastline.

Proven design

The SAR 1906 is a proven design, originally developed in the Netherlands through a unique collaboration between Damen, the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution (KNRM) and TU Delft. By combining real-life rescue experience, academic research and shipbuilding expertise, the partners created a vessel capable of performing in some of the most demanding conditions at sea.

Designed for operational reliability, the 19.5 metre SAR 1906 features Damen’s Sea Axe bow, excellent seakeeping characteristics and self-righting capabilities. The vessel can operate in all weather conditions and provides the Turkish Coast Guard with a dependable platform for life-saving missions.

Vessels with a purpose

The SAR 1906 proves that shipbuilding is more than technology alone. Developed through collaboration and built with purpose, these vessels help bring people safely home. As true vessels with a purpose, they embody Damen's commitment to creating maritime solutions that make a positive impact on society.
