Recent and forthcoming regulations are stimulating assessment of various types of alternative fuel technologies. Of the different available renewable energy sources and the various types of fuels, diesel, ethanol, methanol and hydrogen are most suitable for application in compact vessels that require a relatively long range. That is why, we are developing a family of compact fuel-flexible multi-purpose tugs.
Whatever tomorrow brings
The Fuel Flexible Tugs are, as standard, prepared for, and optionally, suitable for dual-fuel operations on various types of diesel in combination with various types of less energy dense fuels.
(M)ethanol prepared
The (m)ethanol prepared version of the fuel flexible tugs are provided with a vessel lay-out and tank arrangement which is compliant with rules and regulations for future dual-fuel diesel-(m)ethanol operation. The tugs are provided with the additional Bureau Veritas class notation MethanolFuel-Prepared.
Optional (m)ethanol package
The Fuel Flexible Tugs can be provided with an optional (m)ethanol package consisting of main engine modifications, (m)ethanol fuel systems, nitrogen systems, ventilation system and additional alarm, monitoring, control and safety systems.
ULEV notation
To reduce the local emissions the Fuel Flexible Tugs can also be provided with optional exhaust gas aftertreatment systems on the main engines and on the harbour generator set to also achieve the additional Bureau Veritas class notation ULEV.
