Operational excellence
Hopper Dredgers are not like any other type of cargo vessel. Damen builds these highly technical dredging vessels ensuring to maximise their dredging efficiency – whatever their job is. Therefore, a comprehensive range of Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers is available, which can all be tailored to their dredging job by adding the available options.
Dredging independency
Dredging conditions in local harbours and fairways have become more unpredictable due to heavy winds and substantial rainfall. A rapid reaction to sudden sedimentation is vital for the economic wellbeing of an entire region. The Port of Otago is flourishing; it uses a 40-year-old dredger to keep the harbour accessible. To ensure reliable future operations, the Port has acquired a TSHD1000. This hopper dredger vessel is larger than the port’s previous one, and dredges deeper.
Effortless port maintenance
The Ports and Maintenance series of hopper dredgers includes vessel sizes from 1000 to 2500 m³ hopper volume. The compact self-propelled dredgers have been designed to easily access all corners of the harbour. Due to its thrusters and bow thruster the dredger is highly maneuverable. The vessel has been designed with practical maintenance and safe operations in mind.
Fit for purpose all-round dredger
A hopper dredger with many talents: designed for both maintenance duties and capital dredging projects, the Multi-Purpose dredger series fits any job. Its clean V-shaped hopper allows for effortless discharging and the controllable pitch propellors ensure efficient operation. The TSHD can be easily adapted to your particular dredging requirements.
Customised Hopper Dredgers
A continuous flow
Damen built the TSHD650 hopper dredger Tommy Norton for Australia’s Gippsland Ports, ensuring safe and reliable ocean access for commercial vessels, oil & gas suppliers, and the local fishing fleet.
Damen design package
The 2,500 m³ Damen Hopper Dredger was the first of its kind built in Indonesia. The Damen design was constructed locally using a complete TSHD design package. The TSHD2500 Barito Equator enables vital cargo transport on Borneo’s busy Barito River.
Hopper dredger for Port of Otago
At present a TSHD1000 is under construction for the Port of Otago, New Zealand. The 1000 m³ Hopper Dredger is fitted out with truster propulsion and a bow truster for excellent manoeuvrability and practical maintenance.
